Sugar plum tuckered out

This is after a long weekend of a "staycation," in which we visited a local town, stayed at a hotel, saw the movie Desperaux, and shopped. Time for resting!

  3. Irene, Ada loved the book, too. And the movie had the same problem all adaptations have. While the animation was really good, the story itself missed the mark of the book because of the rearranged plot, and omissions, etc. There was also some violent scenes that were scary for Esme, who hid behind her toy seal.
That said, Ada and Esme still enjoyed it. Ada calls it "pretty good, but the book is much different." For Ada, it's actually been okay because we've talked about the differences as a way of discussing storytelling. For Esme, I'm not sure we should see a lot of these kinds of adaptations, because it's harder for understand the contrasts. I would hate for her to think the movie is the "real" one, you know what I mean?

That's a long, long way of saying that it was an "okay" movie. But I always prefer the book version to anything rewritten for the screen...
